Who we are
The IWA is a non-profit organisation which aims to bring together English-speaking women to promote cross-cultural respect and provide an atmosphere of friendship and support.
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
We collect the following information from users and site visitors: name, e-mail address, and information about cookies. Your name and e-mail address are collected and retained in order to respond to requests for information about our services. By accepting our cookies, filling out contact forms, and clicking on ‘contact me’ links, you accept the collection and retention of this sensitive data.
Prospective members who apply for registration in the IWA are also asked to provide the following information: name, street address (house number not required), e-mail address, country of origin, citizenship, and birth date. This information is collected and retained in order to respond to requests for membership in our organization. By accepting our cookies, filling out contact forms, and clicking on the ‘submit’ link to submit your data, you accept the collection and retention of this sensitive data.

Images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) have been generally avoided on this site.
Contact forms
We use a contact form plugin to enable you to contact us more easily. Your name, e-mail address, and any comments (message) made are captured when you submit a contact form. This information is retained for a period of six (6) months beyond the provision of the service (responding to your request) and then deleted, unless you choose to join our organization as a member, whereby the information is retained indefinitely. The information submitted through these forms is never used for marketing purposes.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

How long we retain your data
If you submit your name, e-mail address, and a message (comment) to us, this data and its metadata is retained for a period of up to six (6) months, so we can recognize and respond to any contact requests. If you choose to become a member of the IWA, your data are retained indefinitely, but you always can exercise the right to request the deletion of your data once your membership has expired.
What rights you have over your data
If you have left comments on this site, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where we send your data
This website is hosted through the World4You web hosting company (based in Austria). Please see their privacy policies HERE. European data protection law requires data about European residents which is transferred outside the European Union to be safeguarded to the same standards as if the data was in Europe.
In order for the World4You web hosting company to provide its services to us (i.e. host the website), personal information submitted to the website is transferred to and stored at/processed in Austria. What data breach procedures we have in place
The International Women’s Association of Graz ensures that personal data submitted via the website is stored on the hard drive of a private computer located in a locked office for a period of up to six (6) months after receiving a request for information. This computer is accessible only to the IWA Membership Officer. Member data is subsequently shared only IWA members in the form of a members-only-accessible Membership Directory and to a limited number of IWA Board members (two private computers in locked offices) for processing and support purposes. All IWA members are provided with the IWA Data Protection Policy upon registration for members and agree to protect the data privacy of all other IWA members when they sign their membership application form. In the event of a suspected data breach, either potential or real, we will contact you as soon as possible to notify you of the event and inform you of your data-protection options.
